  Price Categories & Price Types

smartware supports 11 different price categories. Each category represents a unique type of item/service for which an organization will receive money. Additionally, each category has a distinct behavior associated with it. The catagories are listed to the right.

You may define an unlimited number of Price Types within each price category. Tax rules are set at the Price Type level. As an example: you produce not only your events each year but you also serve as a rental hall. Tickets to performing arts events are taxable in your area. You can set up My Single Tickets as a Price Type under the TKTSET category and assign the appropriate tax rate. You could then define Rental Tickets as a Price Type in the same category and not charge any tax at all.

  Defining Multiple Prices
NEW FEATURE! If you have a series of prices that are essentially the same except they are for different zones within your house and consequently different amounts, you can now define all of these prices at the same time. The screen above shows seven subscription prices being defined at the same time.

  Accounts
NEW FEATURE! Ticket prices no longer flow into a single account. You control which account your revenues flow into from every single price code. This allows for purposeful reporting based on your General Ledger.

  Security
NEW FEATURE! Each price code is now assigned a security level. This allows you to control who can and cannot sell a particular item. This feature is particularly helpful in controlling access to Comp Tickets.
